Lately, compliant taxpayers have been struggling to access their 2021 tax clearance certificate (ITF263) owing to system upgrade challenges and congestion on the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority e-services platform. The authority has now addressed the issue in a big way as outlined in Public Notice Number 15 of 2021.

Gone are the days when clients have to struggle to login to the ZIMRA e-service portal, let alone apply for their tax clearance certificates. The authority has now automated the issuance and emailing of 2021 tax clearance certificates starting from 1st of March 2021.

This means taxpayers  will no longer need to apply for the clearance, instead the ITF263  will be emailed to them using their ZIMRA registered email address provided that they are up to date with payments, submissions of tax returns and  are fully fiscalised (if registered for value added tax).

There are no changes in the manner in which payments are made. Tax returns are still to be submitted through the e-services platform or alternatively forwarded to the ZIMRA published emails. Vat registered taxpayers must have their fiscal devices fully fiscalised and interfaced with the ZIMRA servers.

Yours truly, welcomes this recent development and look forward to further improvements in the system’s stability and effectiveness. In the meantime taxpayers are eager to see how this new functionality will play out.
